The Director of MUSC EAP, Ms. Bowers Palmer received a BA in Economics from Newberry College and a M.Ed. in Clinical Counseling from the Citadel. She has been a practicing clinical counselor since 1994 and has been doing EAP specific work since 2002. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings specializing in addictions, codependency, co-occurring disorders, eating disorders, relationship issues, stress management and mental health. Her counseling style is influenced by: Murray Bowen's Family Systems theory, Carl Rogers' Client Centered approach, Transactional Analysis, Motivational Interviewing and Applied Behavioral Analysis.
An advocate for the utilization of employee assistance in the workplace, she is a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) and the President of the South Carolina Chapter of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association. She has been published in The Journal of Employee Assistance and was a presenter at the EAPA 2012 Annual World Conference. Her current interests include helping organizations create positive environments that encourage productivity and helping clients with their occupational and personal development.
Tammy Yarnall, MA, CEAP

Ms. Yarnall received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Stetson University in 1989, and earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Tufts University in 1991. Since that time she has pursued further specialized training in Psychological First Aid, Mediation, Triple P Parenting Program, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. As a clinician Ms. Yarnall is committed to providing high quality evidence-based treatment, and to assuring that each client gains access to services from the provider most suited to meet his or her specific needs.
She has provided counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups in a variety of settings which have included clinics, schools, emergency departments, psychiatric hospitals, non-profit agencies, state agencies and private practice. As part of her clinical practice she emphasizes building and maintaining positive collaborative relationships with clients, families, co-workers, service providers, school personnel, other professionals and governmental officials.
Ms. Yarnall's professional interests include ADHD across the lifespan, Borderline Personality Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and using Mindfulness-based therapies to resolve difficulties and improve our level of functioning in each facet of our lives. She is a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) and member of the South Carolina Chapter of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association.
Molly A. Valerio, MA, MSW, LISW-CP, BCD, EAS-C

Ms. Valerio received her BA in Dance-Movement Therapy from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio where she then continued to acquire a MA in the same field with a concentration in Geriatrics at Goucher College, Towson, Maryland. Several years later, she moved her practice to Clinical Social Work receiving her MSW from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. A Clinical Social Work Fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center in New Haven, Connecticut initiated her attention to the young child and adolescent population combined with a parent therapy, couple therapy and family therapy focus never leaving behind her interest in the elderly.
In addition to her academic background, Ms. Valerio has been trained for the inter-related fields of Substance Abuse, Divorce and Custody Family Mediation, EMDR; a trauma based therapeutic technique, Ministerial training and just recently, the Heart-Math Certification. She is a Board Certified Diplomat in Social Work and a current CEAP candidate. She is a member of the South Carolina Chapter of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association.
Staff:
All MUSC EAP affiliate counselors are licensed therapists with a minimum of a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field. In addition, they have received employee assistance program specific training and are highly encouraged to become CEAPs.
