CONFIDENTIALITY
MUSC EAP maintains strict confidentiality standards and adheres to all HIPAA policies and procedure to safeguard a client's protected health information (PHI). Clients review the confidentiality statement prior to seeing the MUSC EAP therapist and are then asked by the therapist if they understand the confidentiality policy of the MUSC EAP. Both the therapist and the client sign a statement that this conversation has occurred and that confidentiality is protected. Only therapists with the MUSC EAP have access to client files. Written consent by the client must be given for information to be exchanged with anyone not associated with MUSC EAP.
